REDUCTION ROAD ODYSSEY - My Weight Loss Journey

04-21-08 - Postponing the Colonoscopy

April 21, 2008 · 5 Comments

I’m going to be calling tomorrow morning to postpone my colonoscopy which is scheduled for Friday. The reason is that they make you stop taking NSAIDs for seven days prior to the procedure. So, I’ve been taking Tylenol for the sciatica. The problem is, the Tylenol isn’t doing squat. There’s no way I’m going to make it through this week without Aleeve. So, I’m going to hopefully get the sciatica under control first, and then reschedule the colonoscopy. At this point, I think the only way I could make it through the week without Aleeve is to stay in bed until Friday and that’s not an option.

Today, I had to go to the grocery store after work, and I didn’t think I was going to make it out of there because I was hobbling so badly. The only time since this sciatica started that it was worse was back in January when I was in a shopping mall with Sally and Irish J and I had to hobble back to my car. So much for two-and-a-half months of physical therapy!!

Tomorrow morning, I go for a CT Scan of the lower spine. Hopefully, it will reveal the cause of the sciatica, other than my extreme weight problem, that is.

I’m sending back the two movies I have from Netflix, even though I haven’t watched them. They’re both surrealistic foreign films, and although I want to see them, I’m just not in the right frame of mind right now. The next two dvd’s in my queue are both Honeymooners collections.  I think I need some comedy . . . .

Postponing the colonoscopy; no shit? :)

I think that’s wise. The sciatica is top priority, since it interferes with your ADL’s (activities of daily living). The colonoscopy can wait; it’s probably going to show what you and your doc suspect.

Yeah, I’m going to reschedule it tomorrow. I’ll also be setting up an appointment with a pain management specialist. I didn’t even know there was such a specialty until this afternoon!

    The Tylenol isn’t doing squat….. SQUAT!!!….. now there’s a word I haven’t heard much since Mansfield! Join me in a …….

Yeah, I’m back on Aleeve. Hopefully, an epidural injection will help. Tylenol is basically useless for this kind of pain. Is that where the term SQUAT originated?!
