REDUCTION ROAD ODYSSEY - My Weight Loss Journey

I had a better day today.  I was bummed out last night and this morning about breaking down last night and eating snacks that were supposed to be doled out for work.  I think I have just enough left to make it through this week.  I have felt gradually better throughout the day today.  I actually feel very good and alert right now, even though it’s 10 PM, and, on weeknights, I’m usually getting ready for bed at this time.  Tonight, I don’t feel the least bit tired.  One of the reasons I’m feeling better is that I was good today.  I’m not going to post my full food log for the day, but here’s the summary -

I hit the calorie range I want to hit, 1800-2000 calories, and only 24.5 grams of fat for the day!  And I feel satisfied!  If only it was this easy every day.  I guess you could say the evil little voice inside me lost today’s battle.  Good!!  The more days that I win and that nasty, rotten, miserable prick loses, the better.

Otherwise, my back, hip and leg pain from the spondylolysis is much better today.  I would say the epidural injection from last Wednesday is working.  I have a follow-up injection on June 4.  I actually did some stretching exercises tonight, and tomorrow I’m going to go out for a walk.   I know this sound like minimal steps, but the way I’ve felt with this pain recently has limited my ability to do very much at all.  I’m just glad it’s getting a little better.

I’m waiting to hear back from the Institute that conducts the pre-weight loss surgery classes so they can schedule me.  They have to receive the paperwork from the surgeon’s office before they can schedule and they haven’t gotten it yet.  I’ll be attending nutrition classes once a month for three months, plus, I’ll have visits with a clinical psychologist, a nurse practitioner, a dietician, lifestyle change classes, and an appointment with an endocrinologist, who is the Institute’s bariatric specialist.  In addition, I will have a complete cardiac workup and a complete pulmonary workup.  So, it will be at least the end of this year and possibly the beginning of next year until I have the surgery.  I’ve been obese for a long time now, so I can wait a few more months.

Tonight, I watched the 2-hour season finale of one of the only network shows I follow, ‘NCIS’, and it was intense!  One of the main characters died, and the final scene left the viewers wondering if there will be an entirely new cast next season.  The only other TV shows I follow are ‘24′ and ‘The Shield’, both of which have had their seasons delayed because of the writer’s strike.  I will wait patiently until they are back on the air.

That’s all for tonight.  Here’s looking forward to defeating the evil little voice again tomorrow!

That’s alright; January is a good time to have the surgery…

Glad the epidural kicked in; another one next week?

Yeah, by January I’ll have a fresh batch of vacation time, too, so I shouldn’t have to use as much disability.

My follow-up epidural is scheduled for 06-04.
