I had a pretty hard, intense day at work today. Testing for the projects I’m working on has not been going well, so I’ve had to remove both projects from this Friday’s go-live date. Fortunately, it’s not imperative that the date be met, or else I’d still be at work right now, and I’d be even more tired and stressed out than I already am.
I came very close to getting take-out on the way home tonight, but I managed to make it without stopping anywhere. This is the type of day where I could easily eat a foot-long hoagie plus an entire can of Pringle’s chips. But, since that’s the very thing I’m trying to avoid, I came straight home like a good boy. I did make one change to my meal plan for tonight. There was no way I was going to wash, prep, slice and roast potatoes after the day I had, so I had my turkey burger on whole grain toast, and that was my starch with dinner.
My right leg and hip have really been bothering me, starting late this afternoon and into tonight. I don’t know whether it’s all physical or whether part of it’s because I’m so mentally frazzled and tired. The lunchtime walk today took 18 minutes. The same exact distance yesterday took 13 minutes. I didn’t do any exercises tonight. Hopefully, tomorrow things will feel better. I do have a follow-up appointment with the back pain specialist on Friday, and I’ll be mentioning all this to him. Personally, I think I have arthritis in my hips or else my one hip is somehow out of alignment. I’ve also been experiencing upper back pain lately. I guess my body’s trying to send me a message that it’s tired of lugging around all this weight. I’ll be able to take off some weight with this 2000-calorie a day eating plan I’m on, along with menu planning, exercise, grocery lists, etc. I just have to stick to the plan. Then, of course, sometime around January 2009 I’ll be going under the knife for the gastric bypass surgery. Then I’ll really start losing!
The Phillies are out west again tonight, playing an Interleague game against the Oakland A’s. They’ve now lost 6 in a row, their worst slump of the season. The rest of the NL East isn’t doing much better, so, for now, they’re still in 1st place. Barely. Maybe not after tonight. They need to get their bats heated up, and I need to get to bed, because I don’t think tomorrow’s going to be any easier than today was.

I would think that the imaging studies you had of your hip would have shown arthiritis.
January 14 is a good day for gastric bypass
The imaging studies were only of the L/S spine. I don’t think they went down as far as the hip region. My follow-up with the back pain guy’s tomorrow, so I’ll see where I go from here.
Is January 14 your gastric bypass anniversary?
