According to this morning’s weigh-in, I am down another 5 pounds, so I have lost a total of 21 pounds since the end of March. Although there is nothing on my “I want” list that is dependent on any number that the scale shows, I obviously have to lose a lot of weight before I can attempt a lot of those things. So, anything in the downward direction is good. I have decided to start weighing myself only once a week, rather than every day. I know there are different theories on this, but since I weigh over 400 pounds, my weight can fluctuate a lot from day to day. Some days, I’m really good on the eating plan, and the next morning I’ll have gained a pound. Since I got my new scale, I’ve had fluctuations of as much as 4 pounds, both up and down, from one day to the next. I don’t think it’s the scale, either. It’s a mechanical balance beam scale and it seems to be accurate. So, I think a weekly weigh-in will show more consistency.
I’ve also decided that I’m not going to not post all the little warm-up exercises and stretches that I’ve been doing on my exercise log. According to the exercise physiologist at the center where I’m enrolled in the 6-month surgery prep class, these aren’t supposed to count toward the total of exercise, they’re just to help you exercise better. I realize that this means the only thing I’ll be posting on the exercise log right now is walking, but hopefully, I’ll gradually be able to increase my distance and time walked. I should probably invest in a pedometer so I can tell how far I’m walking each day.
So, all in all, a good day today. Another 5 pounds down, and I got in 15 minutes of walking tonight. Tomorrow, I’m going to try and walk twice, once at lunch time, and once in the evening, if the weather cooperates. Good night, all . . . .

Kudos on the 5lbs & the walking. I have been walking a lot & am very pleased with the changes. Now if I can only get the rest of me to look as good as my legs do! Have a good week & Welcome the the Healthy You Challenge!
Thanks! Progress is gradual, but as long as it’s progress and not regress, that’s the important thing!
